Julia Oberndorfer
Julia started to play the piano at the age of 6 but switched to cello two years later when she fell in love with its warm and deep sound. During the years she became a very passionate orchestra and chamber musician. Julia has been the principal cellist in the Upper Austrian Youth Orchestra, the Young Artists Orchestra of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and the Orchestra of the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz. She also gained further experience as a member of the Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra and the orchestra “Philharmonices mundi” with members of the Brucknerorchester Linz. In 2013 she was invited to play a concert with the piano trio “Triophonie” at the Victoria International Arts Festival in Gozo/Malta. Several concert tours gave her the opportunity to play in prestigious concert halls around the world, such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Athenäum in Bukarest, the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Severance Hall in Cleveland, the Stephaniensaal Graz and the Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood. She won the audition to participate in the European Union Youth Orchestra 2018. Since autumn 2017 Julia has been a member of the LGT Young Soloists.
